How to Choose Headlamps for Your Ultimate Camping Experience

July 1st, 2024

There is nothing better than nights out under the stars! If you are like us, some of your best memories with friends and family are in the great outdoors, where you can sit around the campfire together, go on adventures, make your favorite camping food, and enjoy everything that nature has to offer. The right supplies are always going to help you to be as comfortable as possible when you’re away from home, especially when the sun sets and you and the family need to be able to get around in the dark. Flashlights are an essential part of anyone’s camping equipment, and are a versatile and durable tool for after dark navigation. Lanterns are the perfect source of light for when you are stationary and need both hands free. But if you want your hands free while you’re moving? You can’t beat headlamps for usefulness and versatility!

When you are shopping for headlamps, what should you look out for? We highly recommend looking for features that are going to help you to make the most of every trip into the great outdoors. First and foremost, it should be bright enough to be helpful to you wherever your nighttime adventures take you. Make sure you are looking for at least four hundred lumens to ensure you have the light you need for essential nighttime tasks, and take a look around to find a lamp that can easily cycle between high, medium, and low light output for different situations. It’s also a god idea to look for different light focus options, too, including wide angle and focused beam. A wide angle is going to be most helpful for when you are moving around your campsite, through the wilderness, or on a trail, while a focused beam is going to give you the direct lighting you need for tasks like cooking or setting up camp. Since you are going to be outdoors, also consider shopping for a headlamp that is water resistant or waterproof, as well as shock proof against drops and bumps.

The right lighting outdoors is going to ensure that you and your family have the best possible time after dark. Keep your hands free and your campsite lit up with a headlamp that meets all of your unique needs. Have questions about your next trip? We are always here to help you shop, so don’t hesitate to reach out.
